3/14 being pushy but not demanding ... yet

decided to see what leftovers i had in the fridge. being that the last serious swim was a month ago, in swimmers terms, that's an entire season. mondays swim, "getting used to drowning and liking it" was a start. i knew how i would feel once i was chest deep - i knew what to expect instead of feeling shocked by it. weird enough - horizontal felt better the vertical, i.e, there was some breath (right side only) floating but no breath standing (standing in water over my hips). i wanted to do as much as i could with knowing that i needed to stop before i actually needed to stop (by then it would be too late). i have also started doing the old tried and true of being considerate of heart rate (something i have not done since USA swimming during high school times). i figure the heart will need to over work since circulating air in only one lung - no need to chock up "attack" to the already shitty condition.

 here it is:

* all open turns
1 x 500 free @ :30 break
4 x 75 free @ :15 break
sitting on side of pool where pressure was not as great for :30 getting a breath
1 x 400 free @ :30 break
4 x 75 free @ :15 break
sitting on side of pool where pressure was not as great for :30 getting a breath
1 x 300 free @ :15 break

4 x 25 free breath on opposite side (right) @ :10 break
whooooooah! what a feeling. breathing totally on my left for 15+ years. i could feel the left side of my body drag ..... useless piece of meat. it was like dragging a wet sack.

4 x 50 free @ :10 break with flip turns ...... not so bad if done modestly

seems open turns are the way to go for a while; saving flip turns for special occasions. i felt that i didn't push past my limits, however, almost doubling what i did 2 days before may not be smart. hoping i can get in to a specialist sooner then later (3/27). also hoping he/she says "fine - do this swimming of yours" and not "STOP! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING"...... *note to self - if right side of diaphragm goes, you're f@cked.
